Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani, has today, Thursday, 11 April 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the Nesengani Traditional Kraal.

The MEC is visiting the Nesengani Tribal Council, to provide feedback on the service delivery concerns, that were raised during a recent Ministerial outreach with Public Works and Infrastructure Minister, Mr. Sihle Zikalala.

This engagement commences a process between Government and the Traditional leadership towards the resuscitation of operations at the P.R. Mphephu Airport.

For its part, GAAL has conducted an assessment on the facility’s infrastructure, and has established that the airport is still in a pristine condition.

The runway is still in a good condition, and the only work required is on the fire station and the perimeter fence.

There are engagements with airline companies, that have shown an interest of operating the airport, which are subject to Treasury’s conditions.

The MEC is joined in this visit by Clr Mabudu Hulisani, who is the Acting Mayor of the Makhado Local Municipality, Head of Department – Mr. Stephen Matjena and the Chief Executive Officer of the Gateway Airports Authority Limited, Ms Mokgadi Matli.
