The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety distances itself from lists circulating in the public domain, including social media, purported to be linked to the recruitment of candidates for the Traffic Learnership programme.

The Department advertised 150 posts for the Traffic Leanership on 13 June 2023. All the received applications are currently being processed in accordance with recruitment policy prescriptions and regulations of the public service, which are based on the principle that the process is open for all South Africans who meet the requirements and are eligible for employment in the Republic.

Interested candidates have been requested to provide medical fitness certificates because traffic control, just like any other physical work, requires incumbents to be physically fit to be able to do the work.

According to the Head of Department, Mr Stephen Matjena, “applications for the Traffic Learnership programme have closed on Friday, 7th July 2023, and everything has been kept above board”.

“We shall be establishing communication with the short-listed, and as Government we cannot accept that such a delicate process be contaminated by opportunistic elements outside our well established democratic recruitment processes”, concluded Matjena.
