MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya moved to intensify efforts to combat the spread of Covid-19 at Burgersfort Taxi Rank (Sekhukhune District). The MEC distributed 25-litre containers of disinfectant and spray tanks to the Fetakgomo-Tubatsi Municipality and Taxi Associations.
This is part of Government’s intervention at taxis ranks across the province. Over 10 000 commuters pass through the Burgersfort taxi rank daily, hence the rank was identified as (one) of the Covid-19 hotspots.
“We are here today as the department, embarking on the decontamination of Burgersfort taxi rank. With this program our aim is to ensure that taxi ranks are a safe place to be with regard to Covid-19. Continue to sanitise your hands, keep social distance and wear your mask”. Said MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya.
The disinfection of taxi ranks will continue in Waterberg District on Thursday 28 January 2021.
